Dalton's Fiberals

A leader cannot break this many promises and get away with it.

Ontario's premier has broken so many in so many files, that we simply cannot trust anything he tells us and we cannot look to him as a reliable leader. Dalton's not a leader, he seems to be a liar.

Dalton McGuinty in order to get elected made a lot of promises to the people of Ontario - promises he didn't keep. Empty words from a man grasping for power. Here's a "short" list of some of his broken promises.

In Health Care he promised to:
1 - Fund medically-necessary health care services (then he de-listed eye exams, chiropractic care and physiotherapy)
2 - Unclog Emergency Rooms
3 - Provide autism treatment beyond age 6
4 - Provide better mental health care
5 - Hire 8,000 nurses
6 - Cancel P3 hospitals in Brampton
7 - Spend "every penny" of the new health tax on health care
8 - Close "private" MRI and CT clinics

For the Environment he promised to:
9 - Meet 3/4 of Ontario's share of the Kyoto commitments
10 - Divert 60% of municipal garbage to recycling by 2005
11 - Ban organics waste in our landfills
12 - Give the Ministry of Natural Resources the resources to protect fish and wildlife
13 - Close coal-fired electricity plants by 2007
14 - Eliminate mercury emissions from coal-fired electric power generation plants by 2010

In Education he promised to:
15 - Establish a standing committee on Education to hold yearly hearings
16 - Ensure 75% of students meet or exceed the provincial standard on province-wide tests within the first mandate
17 - Set a hard cap of 20 students for early grades
18 - Provide a new funding formula for rural and northern schools
19 - Stop school closings

In Community Infrastructure he promised to:
20 - Provide a Seamless Transportation Network across the GTA
21 - Stop 6,600 houses from being built on the Oak Ridges Moraine
22 - Build 20,000 new affordable housing units

In terms of Managing Your Taxpayer Dollars he promised to:
23 - End Federal Child Tax Credit clawbacks
24 - Not raise taxes
25 - Stop the waste of taxpayers' dollars
26 - Balance the budget every year of their mandate
27 - Not add to the province's debt
28 - "Give you the power over the role of money in politics, by asking you to set strict limits on the amounts political parties can raise and spend."
29 - Give taxpayers better value for money while keeping taxes down
30 - Abide by the balanced budget law

Regarding Responsible Government he promised to:
31 - Allow all non-cabinet MPPs to criticize and vote against government legislation
32 - Govern with honesty and integrity
33 - Operate an open and transparent government
34 - Reduce the use of private consultants

And in many other areas he promised to:
35 - Create tens of thousands of new child care spaces
36 - Make the Ministry of Agriculture a lead ministry
37 - Implement all of Justice O'Connor's Recommendations
38 - Provide 35,000 Housing Allowances
39 - Repeal the Tenant Protection Act within one year
40 - Provide legal rights to victims of crime
41 - Cap hydro rates at 4.3 cents per kilowatt hour until 2006
42 - Require trades and professions to accept qualified immigrants within one year
43 - Eliminate barriers to foreign-trained professionals within one year
44 - Establish a public inquiry into meat inspections

And more... now do you see why I've become a Conservative? I'm tired of Liberals acting like Fiberals, whether it was iin Ottawa or is still in Queens' Park.
I'm tired of the lies, I'm tired of the scandals, I'm tired of the waste...

My favourite broken promise is to "not raise taxes". Dalton's Liberals said that and then turned around and raised provincial income tax by about 12%... A huge tax increase disguised as a "health premium". What's your "favourite" broken promise?

Enough of this... Tell everyone you know in Ontario, remember the broken promises. But on October 10th, remember that Leadership Matters and that we can build a better Ontario with a real leader and with change at Queen's Park.
